One of the most popular methods of consuming CBD is through CBD oil in a tincture or oral drops. The CBD oil will usually be made from the hemp plant extract, mixed with an oil to help the extract to be better absorbed into the body. Sometimes additional flavours will also be added to take away from the ‘green’ or ‘grassy’ flavour that CBD has.

Many CBD oil producers will use oils such as olive oil or coconut oil for this.

CBD oil will usually be taken by using a spray or dropper to apply the CBD oil under the tongue. You will then hold it there for 1-2 minutes the compounds are absorbed through the lining of the mouth and goes straight into the blood vessels. This means that it can come into effect within a few minutes (usually around 15 minutes) but will also wear off quickly.

This method gives you a great degree of accuracy over the dose of CBD that you are taking, can be taken whenever you need it, and is relatively discreet. Some people don’t like the flavour of CBD, but this can be disguised by eating or drinking after taking it – or using a flavoured tincture.

CBD oil can also be added to food or drinks for an interesting way to try taking it.
